All edges gilt. Original yellow endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription on front free endpaper. Barely decipherable and undated. 26 x 30 mm. Original full burgundy limp leather with blocked gilt titling within proprietorial gilt acorn and oak leaf border. Lightly patinated and in very good condition. Not in Bondy, nor Spielmann. WorldCat records two copies worldwide (Harvard, and Pierpont Morgan). William Frederick Rock, the founder of Rock & Co., was a prominent London stationer and publisher who had previously worked with Thomas De La Rue, a name still famous today for banknote and stamp printing. This background in high-precision engraving is why these miniature religious scenes are so technically impressive. No copies in commerce, this is a scarce example.
