Third edition. All edges gilt. Original green endpapers. Contemporary pencil ownership inscription on front blank leaf. Provenance:Mary Anee Lewis, Barrow. 27 x 34 mm. Original red morocco wallet style binding with green leather lining. Spielmann, 466. Welsh, 6419. OCLC number, 538219156. WorldCat locates one copy of this edition (National Maritime Museum). According to Bondy, this title "belongs to the best-loved miniature books, and was obviously much treasured by our Victorian ancestors." At least 34 editions were published in England, making it the most common miniature book of the first half of the 19th Century. The earlier editions are less commonly found today.
